I would have said the day Obama took office, that an attack on Iran just went down to almost nil...Obama being the anti-American that he is, why would he attack or permit Israel to attack the global bastion of anti-Americanism? But with what's going on now in the Mediterranean, and with Israeli warships in the Persian Gulf, its starting to look like an attack on Iran is impending. This is likely to lead to a severe disruption of global oil supplies, as Iran is likely to counterattack against oil ships in the gulf as well as midlle east oil fields. Obama with his tree hugging and love of "green" energy, a disruption of oil supplies is right up his alley. He is just brimming over with giddiness since the BP oil spill is making everyone question ocean drilling in particular, and relying on oil in general. Of course, before things stabilize, this will drive up the price of all energy, especially oil. Why waste time with this contract when you can make a fortune with oil futures and derivatives?

Oddly enough, screamer, Obama has maintained many of the Bush policies on rendition and is upping the troops in Afghanistan...didn't exactly followup on those campaign pledges after his dose of reality from the post-election intelligence briefing. Of course, Bush was also responsible for higher oil prices as he stimulated Chinese demand growth in 2004 and beyond, which ultimately led oil and pump prices higher. Yet, for simple minds, everything is a conspiracy.

If Obama wins the President will srike Iran the day Congress adjourns. He has 90 days under the War Powers Act to use the military before reporting to Congress. Only the President can call Congress back into session. President Bush thinks Obama is to weak to defend the US against Iran therefor he will strike during the waning days of his term. The Iranian subs must be put out of action first, with any surface to surface missle launching facilities. The air force must be taken out of the game (crater the runways and air defense destroyed. Cruise missles, B-1 & B-2 bombers, and F-15E to stike the targets. Perhaps the f-22 will deploy to handle air to air and ground to air targets. The US could provide refueling for the Israelie strike aircraft over western Iraq at night. Bush & the neocons just believe Obama is to weak to defend us so he will.

You're dead wrong. Israel just bombed Syria and its nuke plant last year and the Arab world said nothing. Because everyone knew it was the right thing to do. Terror nations can not have nukes. No one wants Iran to have nukes either, except Syria, Iran and the terrorists. Iran must be stopped and they show no intention of listening to the world telling them to stop even after 28 years of 'talking'.

Moreover, the Israelis would have to fly via Turkey (very unlikely) or via Iraq (unless they can come up with an aerial refuelling plan which is probably outside their capability.) If they fly accross Iraq then they would have to have US permission. This would cause all kinds of trouble in the Arab world, where, even though they despise & fear the Shia Persian Iranians, they would feel compelled to be against Israeli actions. Thus if an airstrike was an option then probably the US would feel better off doing it themselves, though realistically to do so would probably cause massive problems amongst the Shia in Iraq. Fair more likely I reckon that the current situation is just shadow boxing.

I think if it's going to happen it will have to happen before the new President comes into power (especially if it's Obama). More importantly, I think the Israelis will be reluctant to strike because it means they lose all progress with Syria over the Golan, face a counterattack via Hezb-ollah in the North and likely the Iranians would push Hamas into action aswell. The Israelis would likely be reluctant to fight door to door in Gaza, a tough incursion into Lebanon and keep troops in reserve along the Golan - along with having to deal with any other potential threat that the Iranians put up.
